You can get to Catalina Island by passenger ferry from four mainland ports in southern California — San Pedro, Long Beach, Newport Beach or Dana Point — and the ride is only about an hour by boat or 15 minutes by helicopter. You can also travel seasonally between Avalon and Two Harbors on the Cyclone boat.

You can also travel by private aircraft or private boat! Once on the island, the town of Avalon or the village of Two Harbors are easy to navigate by foot — Avalon is only about one-square mile.

But for those who get motion sickness or need to get there in a hurry, we've also outlined available helicopter options below. However, there are several alternatives, including the Catalina Flyer and a helicopter service, that offer less frequent and certainly more expensive options.
