Chief Marketing Officer. UX Researcher 1. Project Manager. Chief Product Officer. CareerBuilder 2. This is an exciting time to be at CareerBuilder. The company was recently acquired by Apollo and their leaders along with ours are reshaping the future of CB.
As with any major change, there are some challenges to overcome, but it is a great place to be able to drive change, influence across the company, and be heard. We're in a very malleable place right now with our eyes on the prize, and that's the exact type of environment that is great for determined employees.
Plus, we have bonuses previously quarterly, now twice a year , k match, tuition reimbursement, and lots more. I love our location too - easy to get to from anywhere in Chicago.
Pros Strong benefits , lots of time off, good managers, bonuses. Cons Very dynamic, so you have to be able to pivot easily. Yes There are 3 helpful reviews 3 No There are 6 unhelpful reviews 6. Culture and management were great several years ago. A change in management then company ownership really changed the culture. Very little career advancement, benefits were significantly reduced, micro management took over. There are better places to work in the Atlanta area.
Yes There are 7 helpful reviews 7 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Very Micro-management style from Arizona. Checking when I was in and out of the office. Opportunity for advancement seemed very far away. Pros great benefits. Cons Micro Management style. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Yes There are 3 helpful reviews 3 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Account Development, creative selling, cold calling.
Evolving business into full end to end SAAS company. Great benefits competitive work environment. Pros Fair Compensation for performers. Cons little flexibility. Careerbuilder was recently bought out by Apollo. Since they took ownership the compensation of engineering has been slashed.
Since the company already paid under market, the further eroding of benefits is a pretty clear message to engineering that it is time to leave. Apollo is only in this for short term profit. Where Careerbuilder was one a great place to work, I can't say the same anymore. Cons New management doesn't care at all about the long term success of the company.
Yes There are 4 helpful reviews 4 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. The company has a great culture, and an above-average benefits package. It has recently been bought by Apollo Group, which has somewhat changed the culture, but it is still a great company to work for.
Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No There are 2 unhelpful reviews 2. I worked here out of college and it was a fun experience for year olds but not so much if you were looking for a stable, long-term career. It was a good introduction to Sales but not necessarily a place to settle in long-term. The recent acquisition by new owners still hangs a cloud over the short and long-term future of working here.
Time will tell whether these are the biggest changes or over time we become a much different company than we were Amazing opportunity to learn the business and improve your skill set on a daily basis, but there are simply too many levels of management and the compensation doesn't match up well at all with the industry. Pros The people that work there are awesome. We all want to get paid more. Salaried workers face pros and cons; hourly workers face pros and cons, too.
Hourly employees are paid for the time they work — no exceptions. If your employer wants you to work more time, they have to give you more money. Working a holiday could get you a heck of a windfall; many employers pay double-time during the festivities. Before accepting a new hourly position, ask your hiring manager about overtime and holiday policies. Make sure they are part of your contract. If you're in a well-compensated field with lots of overtime, you could make more than if you earned the same official pay on a salaried basis.
Being paid hourly can potentially make your job or income more vulnerable. If a company goes through tough times, your hours could get cut.
For a salaried position, you get paid what you get paid — you can count on your check as surely as you count on the sun rising in the morning. In the United States, the Affordable Care Act requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide health insurance to employees who work 30 or more hours a week.
Some businesses cut employee hours under 30 to avoid paying for insurance. A salaried employee is paid regularly and at the same rate each pay period. Your monthly salary is your monthly salary is your monthly salary, regardless of whether you work 40 hours or 30 hours or 10 hours — in which case, please let us know if your company is hiring!
